Footnote:  Gaelic mouth-music to celebrate last week's successful National Mod in Stornoway. Brochan Lom was recorded by many folk singers including the duo of Robin Hall and Jimmie MacGregor and I first found the words printed in Scottish Folk Notes in 1963.  Of the song SFN noted "As is usual with mouth-music the words are unimportant, providing only a vehicle for a dance melody.  In this case the subject is porridge (brochan)."  Indeed the song is about thin porridge!  Advance notice - the 2006 National Mod will be held in Dunoon from 13 October to 21 October.
